Employers must also ensure that floors and surfaces, corridors, and working areas are safe and suitable for the intended purpose.

There should be no slopes, holes, or uneven areas, and surfaces must be kept free from obstructions which may cause a workplace accident. Steps and staircases must be safe with adequate handrails where possible. Premises must also be kept clean and free of debris or waste materials with bins provided.
