Employers are legally obliged to provide safe equipment along with suitable training for you and your colleagues. Machinery at work is required to be suitable for its intended use, maintained in good condition, properly inspected, and contain adequate safety warnings.
Employers must also ensure that floors and surfaces, corridors, and working areas are safe and suitable for the intended purpose.

There should be no slopes, holes, or uneven areas, and surfaces must be kept free from obstructions which may cause a workplace accident. Steps and staircases must be safe with adequate handrails where possible. Premises must also be kept clean and free of debris or waste materials with bins provided.

To make a claim for a work accident, the case must meet the following criteria:

  • The worker is a regular employee under an employment contract, self-employed, or a working partner of a corporation
  • The accident was a result of the nature of the work
