Health and safety in the workplace

One of the key aspects of a working environment is health and safety.

Naturally, different working environments will require different safety aspects – for example a warehouse will have guidelines applicable to it which won’t be relevant to an office – but the overarching premise is the same. The environment must be safe, employees must not be exposed to dangerous conditions and the employer is responsible.

A breach of health and safety could, for example, lead to a claim for personal injury. This could cost the employer a significant amount of money, and the employee significant detriment to their lifestyle. It is vital to understand your responsibilities and expectations.

If you would like further information about gaining compensation for an injury sustained at work you can find this in our section on workplace accidents, located with our accidents and injuries section.
