Information on the County Court

 

The County Court is where most civil cases end up in the UK. There are 216 County Courts in the UK which deal with all sorts of civil actions including claims for defamation, breach of contract, injunctions, personal injury, property damage, and negligence claims. The civil court system also handles family issues, such as divorce, custody, and adoption. The County Court also operates what is referred to as the Small Claims Court which is basically a special procedure for handling smaller claims in a county court.

In this section we have set out some things you should know about the County Court if you are considering making a claim there, or if someone has made a claim against you.
